Cristal Francisco Community Project

At the beginning, when the professor told us that we needed to do a community services, I was thinking about any activity that could very helpful. A couple hours later, when I arrived home, my mother and father were arguing about a church activity that they were part of. My mother was getting crazy because the church activity needed volunteers to cook and serve food, also to do some other activities like attend the front desk, and organize tables and chairs for guests. I decided to do this service because I felt that my parents needed help, and at the same time, it was something gratifying been able to help the people who live around you.
However, the day of the event I woke up around 6:30 AM in the morning to go to clean up the place where the church activity was taking place, and organize the tables and chairs, and so for. After that, we cooked, served the food and clean the kitchen. When we finished cleaning the kitchen, I went back home to get ready for the event. Then I returned to the event around 1 PM, and my job was to tell the guests where to get the parking spots, so they do not get a ticket. Later on, I was in the front desk attending the people that were coming in to pay their tickets, and welcoming them to the event. We closed the door at 3:00 PM, and I went to the kitchen to prepare the welcome dessert, for then, serve it to the guests and clean up the garbage. After this, some volunteers were checking the area to make sure that all guests were sitting when the event started.

Furthermore, when we started to serve the food to the guests, we realized that we did not cook enough rice, so my dad and I went to a couple of restaurants in the area of Perth Amboy NJ to see who could sell us white rice. Unfortunately, none of the restaurants around had the exact amount of rice we were looking for, so when we return to the activity place, the coordinator of this activity called to a restaurant located 30 minutes away from our location, and they were selling the rice we were looking for, so we decided to get two big containers. Going back to the place, we were rushing because it was the time to serve the food. Thanks to God that everything came out perfect, even though this situation was not in our plans. After serving and enjoying the food between the guest members of the community, all of them were happy with the attention we offered to them. After a long day of work, we cleaned up the kitchen, organized the place, and took out the garbage. Then, we waited until the activity was over, for so, be able to leave everything in order.

In conclusion, this community service helped me to feel more confident and same time taught me that; not everything goes as we want, never everyone is satisfied, and there is always a person that abuse of you. We must stay positive, be patient and give your best because all you do today will pay you tomorrow.
